Block Island Pride
We are Block Island Pride
Block Island Pride was born on Spar Point Farm in the winter of 2020. During the gray days and long winter nights, Austin Morin, then the caretaker of the farm living in the Ocean-View Cottage, came up with the idea of an island pride event and carefully put together the many pieces of community outreach, venue organization, volunteers, entertainment, and inclusivity for all island neighbors and beyond. Today, as the Director of Queer Block Island, Austin has been the tireless driving force behind an amazing Block Island Pride weekend of celebration held each September, when he returns to Spar Point Farm with his family of origin and his family of choice to share the joy with us.
Just like our fields, our farm thrives on biodiversity and freedom. We are a dedicated queer safe space where the only thing we cultivate more carefully than our crops is an atmosphere of total acceptance. Come as you are, bring your own brand of kindness, leave a little more grounded, and know that you belong in this landscape.
